THIS MONTHS CAR COME TO US FROM: Buenos Arise Argentina
As luck would have it, he found one incredible 1940 coupe. Fully restored by the owner, mandarin maroon, it was perfect. The former owner Mr Dante took 6 years to build it from the bare chassis, 11 coats of paint, bough 30 carburetors just to have all the original bolts, bought a hole car just to have the original hood emblem that his ford was missing! He was so meticulous that all the screws where orinted horizontal!!! He even made and acid seal to stamp the original ford logo on all the glasses of the coupe. That’s how good it was the restoring process, when he was not using the car he flushed the water from the radiator and lifted the car son the wheels where not in contact with the floor. When my dad negotiated a price and decided to buy it they started talking and that’s when he realized that this coupe was the same 1940 black Ford Coupe he has seen at the car dealer 3 blocks away from our house! After selling the car to my dad Mr Dante fell sick and had to go to a shrink because the car was his life. He had to sell it because his trucking company was going under.
The shrink told him to remove all contact with the car. My dad not knowing this, went often to Dante’s house to show him his 1940 Ford was ok. He even invited him to a rally and let Dante use his former coupe.Luckily today Mr. Dantes has recovered and his Trucking Company is back up and running. Mr. Dantes he since bought several collector cars and maintains them in mint condition, Mercedes, jags and many more, but one thing was oddly absent from his collection. Nothing could ever replace his prized 1940 Ford and mint condition Flathead.
