L. C. Firestine Ford
L. C. Firestine Ford was a Ford car dealership owned by Les C. Firestine, “The Ford Man” of the East Bay. From 1921-1923, the dealership was located at 6216 College Avenue. 2 From June, 1923 to 1940, it was at 6300 College Avenue, on the Oakland Berkeley border. In 1940, it was taken over by Clarence Bullwinkel Ford. The site is now occupied by the Safeway on College. Back in 1932 Les C Firestine and Fox Theaters offered a promotion to give away 5 brand new 1932 Ford Model A’s.
The Oakland Fox Theater
The Fox Theater was built and open in 1928 Just a few year before this event. So it makes since why they wanted to go big. The theater closed it’s doors in 1973. But still stands to this day being restored in 2012 and is currently being used. more images below
