RE-ENGINEERING THE MODEL A ENGINE
So, it looks like someone has done it. We have heard through the rumor mill that there is a company in Campbell, CA that has almost finished the re-manufacturing of a model A flathead 4 cylinders.
This block will be made available to the public as soon as 2021. Below the video, is a link to their website and I suggest if you’re interested to check it out. The company has already completed a few blocks and they’re currently in the last stages of testing. They’re also reproducing the internal parts including the cranks. Terry Burtz has also been working hard to introduce several technical improvements and advances to the design. Given that close to 90 years of casting improvements and engine design could benefit the build, we are extremely excited to see these new motors hit the market. They outline the changes and improvements on there site and it honestly just make sense. Their goal is maintaining the true history of the motor and bringing new life to the hobby. Something I think we can all get behind.
If anyone has a question, concern, comment, suggestion, or wants to get on the email list for updates, please email model.a.engine@hotmail.com. We will add your email address to our mailing list and do our best to address any questions you may have.
Check out their high hill test video. The engine passed the test with flying colors. Looks at that car scoot.
There is also rumor of a company in Australia remaking the 8ba block. We will keep you up to date as we find out more.
