PROS: The comments surrounding this carburetor where shockingly positive
- The Original Stromberg 97 is by far the top pic of our group.
- The parts are easily found with a strong dealer network and backwards compatible with the originals. Sometimes offering a pretty sizable improvement over the original parts.
- They are UK Built and therefor the quality is out standing, often just mount, tune, and walk away. Which number of our members confirmed.
- Offers a wide range of tuning options and parts to make sure they will work for everyone’s exact needs.
CONS:
- There is not much negativity we can say about these carbs other then some people don’t buy them because of the high price point. Others argue that the carb is such a quality piece that your paying extra for dependability.

PROS: These carbs seem like a good game of Chinese Roulette
- These carburetors are an economical choice.
- Repair kits are available thought speedway motors. Some members stated that often the rebuild kits offer better parts then what originally came in the carb off the shelf. Which was shocking.
CONS:
- Made in China and comes with all the problems that you would normally expect.
- Aluminum base has been known to cause freezing issues, which lead to condensation building up around the base. Mostly you just get water stains around the intake.
- Shrinkage can occur during long drives resulting in the base freezing. Which in some rare cases caused the inner butterflies to stick. Resulting in a stuck open throttle. I have heard the same story from multiple members that experienced it.
- Out of the box screws are commonly loose and need to be tightened before the carb is ever used to insure a good seal.
- The screws in the fuel bowl to access the jets are prone to leakage, they use nylon seals.
- Dealers are less likely to carry replacement parts in stock.
- Doesn’t offer the customer much in the way of customization.

Best Price: $384.95

PROS: Edelbrock didn’t get much wrong with this carb.
- Made in the USA
- Most of our members that have used them feel it’s a quality piece and offers the same performance of a UK 97
- Edelbrocks dealer network is strong and they’re for it is easy to find someone that sells them local to anyone looking to buys one.
- The price point on these carbs is better than the UK Stromberg offering budget builders the same performance for a little less per carb.
CONS:
- The biggest complaint about these carburetors was not function. It was looks. Sadly, these carbs don’t offer the same cool look that the 97 offers. Even if it seems to be a quality item.
- Finding parts for these carbs is not impossible but likely not on the shelf at your local dealer.
- Options to customize these carbs is not as accessible as they are with the Stromberg 97.
