This is a Sun distributor scope it’s used to check and set the advance curve of the distributor advance , regardless of the type of engine they all require the advance to come in at the proper speed and load for its application. By changing weighs and springs we can adjust the advance rate and rpm. There is no one size fits all so every curve is set to your specific needs. It also can be used to set the dwell on point distributors . I have modified this scope so that I can check spark quality of the coil through out the rpm range as well.
